Behind the Scenes

When I got back from teen camp, caught up on the washing (both camp washing and home washing), and slept for a while I finally got to open the studio door. I forgot the “mess” I had left a week and a half before. My “studio” is a large bedroom in our home and I have a large linen closet next to the studio that is the home to my stash. I keep all the “scraps” (those pieces under 1 yard) in the studio in bins labeled with their average size. I promise it WAS organised at one point! My small squares and strips are all good, it’s those in between sizes that have taken over the place!

So, I started at the cutting table. I removed all the fabric that wasn’t for a current project and organised the ones left into their respective project stacks. I am the world’s worst at pulling fabrics, not using them in the end, then NOT putting them away. Once it is clean, I am great for a few months, but when something gets thrown in (like teen camp) I lose the “clean” mojo and just want to sew and cut and finish projects. I have seven projects on the cutting table waiting to be cut. I have NO cut projects waiting to be sewn. I have a few (6 or less) waiting for the rows to be sewn together. I have too many to count that need sandwiched and quilted. I usually pull and quilt as needed.

I took this pic once I had organised my table this far. There is one more project off to the right that I didn’t have room for in the pic. I still have some scraps and yardage to clean up to make the cutting table more comfortable. I have been cutting on Classic Vintage and Stars Over Bethlehem in the not cleaning times.

I have 11 quilts in my “Ready to Go” folder. I have 7-10 more in the “Working On” folder. I’m so excited to share these with you… It’s hard not to do one mystery a day rather than one a week! We could have a Monday Mystery, Tuesday Mystery…….

I love what I do! I love that you are with me on this journey!
