Through the Looking Glass – Clue 3

I am gave you Clue 3 early. It is the one that takes the longest to sew. If you can get Block A complete, that would be perfect. If you get the entire clue complete before New Year’s Day, even better and will save you time! I can’t wait to see your early clue blocks!

I decided since we are past Christmas and are probably prepared for New Year’s, it is a great time to sew! Grab your Clue 3 bag, plate, or box (or however you have them stored) and let’s do this!

    How do you make half square triangles with 3 7/8 squares. Explain this step in real terms. “Now use the 3 7/8 squares we cut. 10 background 2 squares, 6 background one squares and four accent contrast to create these”. How do make HSTs with these. I have been quilting for 40 years and your directions are very confusing. Usually the middle is a rectangle. I’m open to any new processes. Thank you. I’m stumped and can’t figure out this step

      You draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the lighter fabric, then mate as mentioned right sides together. You will stitch 1/4” to the left and right of the line, cutting on the line gives you two HST units for each mated set of squares. You’ll trim to 3-1/2”. Let me know how I can help farther.
